Triphop & Ambient with Hints of Blues and Electro Influences

Hi! I'm Ashley Mason, a music producer based in Leicester working under the Orton Emmé alias . I have completed a Diploma in Music at Leicester College and also work under the Sonarm alias, creating Trance and other club music, some of which as been featured on adverts and there's also talk of it being used on SkyTV. I am also a Trance DJ under the same alias gigging in and around Leicester and Leicestershire (check out my Sonarm profile here). Orton Emmé is the alias under which I can write alternate music in other genres, keeping the two personas seperate in the hope of, eventually, a release independent of my other works within the Dance music industry.

The majority of the music I create under this alias I feel is more suited to what I call the 'musically mature audience' who aren't nieve and narrow-minded when it comes to different musical genres. Those people who aren't fussed about the latest boy band or Crazy Frog mimics. Those people that actually care about good music and go out of their way to find it, not just listen to what's brought to them on the monotony of the radio. Non-Pop yet not abstract and not something too non-commercial that the general population won't like it. Good, solid music with some depth and emotion thrown in.

Why do I write this music? Because of the vast differences in the genres that I write in and the array of influences that inspire me and keep me sane. I feel that the music written under this alias takes a more open-minded approach to music and incorporates influences and ideas from many other artists including Royksöpp, Lemon Jelly, DJ Shadow, Massive Attack, Moby and Lamb.

Often unusual techniques are used in subtle ways to create a unique sound without losing its commercial interpretation and persona.

My music is also being played at the Sunset Sessions festival, Cornwall!!!
