Alvarez KingsHands up who would love a Disco, Guitar funk band? Well Alvarez Kings are the answer to your dreams. Their brand of relentlessly funky beats and deadly simple lyrics is effortlessly brilliant. "Despair on the Stairs" is a stop-starting joy, lurching from bass solos to electro tinged vocals, catching the listeners in a heady dance concoction. "38 Miles" showcases a band aware that the most blatantly simple chants can lodge itself into your head, and marrying it to a twisty turny Futureheads funk makes it even more memorable. "A Mean to an End" is a foot stomper most bands could only dream of with a chorus that will settle nicely on the sofa that is the back of your head. And "Sit Back Hold Tight" pretty much does what it says on the tin, taking your senses and giving them a good beating. Intellectual? Not really. Thrilling, fun and accessible indie funk?
