Band and Demo Reviews: Unsigned Music Reviews
Carmen

Carmen

Carmen are a surprisingly melodic rock band hailing from the currently-under-water town of Cheltenham. They sound very polished, which can sometimes be a dangerous thing in rock (think Linkin Park), but it's their use of synths and excess production that is their strong point.

Admittedly their songs are fairly formulaic, following traditional quiet verse/loud chorus patterns. Once they get out of first gear (the instrumental parts on I Can Tire are a good example), they show good musicianship with some great riffs in there.

Standout track A Silent Anything resurrects strong grunge dynamics, with the strings in the background dragging it kicking and screaming into the 21st century. A band who still need to work on their songwriting, but a band with potential nonetheless.
