Chris Harding
Chris HardingReviewing Chris Harding's MySpace material is difficult, as his style is near on impossible to pin down and reflect within 4 songs. But here goes. 'Crawl Underground' samples, of all things, a weather forecast, before a neat, quirky beat brings the vocals in. The vocals are very good indeed, and it knits the various contrasting styles and ideas together well. 'Just For The Feck Of It' begins as a real rock and roll offering, with female vocals played against the odd metal scream of Chris Harding himself. The rock feel to the track comes up at times, but overall it's more of a pop song. Then we're swept back into effects-laden pop in 'A Monstrous Metaphor', with a pleasant drifting feel to it, and the rumblings of 'Dirty Fish Fingers' make for further great listening. Chris Harding is a genius. The 4 tracks here are brilliant, catchy and listenable, and he has collaborated to good effect in each track. They don't just progress from song to song, but verse to verse. No wonder he simply refers to it as 'alternative' music. www.myspace.com/christheactivist Further Information
