Kill Casino

The vocals seem to be ill fitting at times, begging for more of a ballad as the heavier guitar work threatens to take over. A lesser singer would surely be overwhelmed and would get lost in the song. A good thing, then, is that Karen Luan is not just your average singer. Described as 'an icon in the making' is flattering, and there are certainly examples of this. Then again, this is Kill Casino, not Karen Luan, and the band as a whole is undeniably talented.

'Stolen Eyes' is a track that needs a few listens to really appreciate, and with more listens the track sounds better. The pop vocals of Luan and the sheer in your face rock stylings of drummer Ryan Say and guitarist Chris Ryan is a mix that is certainly impressive. The band's ability to straddle the often invisible line between mainstream pop and post-punk rock goodness is a weapon in their arsenal that puts them in a very strong position indeed.

New track 'Best Served Cold' is another storming track, and offers much of the same, with Karen Luan's star-in-the-making appeal enhanced even more.

This is a band going places, with a strong sound. Like a juggernaut with a super fast engine, it's a twist on an already solid style. Nice.
