Band and Demo Reviews: Unsigned Music Reviews
Mexicolas

Mexicolas

Mexicolas are riding the crest of a wave right now. With popularity gaining, gigs at such venues as Rock City in Nottingham and London barfly, and reviews ranging from The Sun to Teletext. But do they deserve such popularity?

In short, oh hell yes!

Jamie Evans has a great voice, and with meaty guitar hooks and frantic drumming come a completely transfixing sound. Their music is a swirling pool of rock, with comparisons to be made to the Manic Street Preachers with some of the riffs, and Foo Fighters with some of the song structures. Evans as a new Grohl? Possibly.

'Big in Japan' is a monster, and a great starting point for anyone interested in The Mexicolas, and 'Shame' is in the same awesome vein. I really, really like this band!

Check out their MySpace. It'll be interesting to see how this band progresses over the next few months.
