Band and Demo Reviews: Unsigned Music Reviews
Rob Scoda
Rob ScodaYou just need to hear the fantastic beginning to 'Star For A Day' before you will like this man, and the whole first track to this enjoyable album impresses. Rob Scoda is an Australian living in Sweden, making music that, although being pigeon-holed in 'acoustic rock', should not be limited by it. 'I'll Be Back' is another early highlight of the album, with a sower, melodic style, and thoughtful lyrics throughout, before the violin laced, laid back offering of 'A Close Encounter With Love' imopresses. So far, so good. The music comes from the heart, the album seems like a personal work, and a triumph at that, and there are several tracks to hook a listener. The album is entitled 'Natural Selection', and if so nature shapes the album well, with 'Great Expectations', the sixth track of eleven, his best work. 'Brand New Day' is mellow, well crafted, and altogether impressive, and another gem to pick out from a good selection of songs is 'Still Don't Understand'. Whereas the intro sounds similar to 'Breakfast at Tiffany's', the song shapes itself into a work that's all Scoda's own. With 'Thorn In Your Side' an upbeat ending to proceedings, this is an album with a lot to offer. With no noticeable dip in quality, several stand out tracks and a good voice, there's promise galore here. Catch him out now, and prepare to be impressed. myspace.com/robscoda Further Information
