Skam
SkamSkam are, Steven Hill (Vocals/Guitar) Matthew Gilmore (Bass/Backing Vocals) and "The Xray" (Drums/Backing Vocals). From Leicester their gallery is full of Shots from Leicesters well known gig venues including The Charlottle and The Shed. Listening to their Myspace player it is quite varied in sound from song to song. Having not heard of this lot before I have chosen my favourite two tracks from their Myspace player. The first thing that strikes you about Bulsara is a very Foo Fighters Esque introduction, with the drums building up nicely into a heavier guitar riff. If the introduction were to stop there, you really wouldn't have a clue what kind of vocals to expect! You could be completely fooled into thinking there was more than 3 of these guys. In the instrumental parts a strong guitar telent can be heard. The backing vocals are fairly simple but then again if the main vocalist is doing his job right that's all you need! "4142" starts with a great bass riff. Guaranteed to be a floor filler in a live show! Very 80s feel to the way the lyrics are spaced out with the rhythm of the instruments but the chorus again changes everything tempos upbeat and pulls everything together for a cracking chorus. Still an obvious Foo Fighers influence more in the instrumental side not the vocals! These guys have a good sound but I rekon would really come into their own in a live performance!
