Stephen Hill
Stephen HillStephen Hill's music is hardly groundbreaking for an acoustic act but has an effortless quality to it. Each tune is a perfect little package of straightforward emotion and is thus very easy to appreciate it as a wholely great ep. "Louise" is an accomplished piece with quirky beat and accordian is a great start. An approachable tune, with an honest and offbeat style that prevents it from a sombre atmosphere. Ultimately easy listening but with an admirable openness. "Misty morning" opens with a gentler, more acoustic intro. An obvious motion and sway lends itself to an adult lullaby. It's entirely memorable and has the ability to subdue to it's listener with little ease. A second set of vocals is brought in here complimenting Hill's own accent and adding a nice focus to the tune. "Hope it goes away", the next track, begins with a much chirpier folk beat. The lyrics with a dark twist become something new in connection with this infectious beat and allow you, most likely humming, to be unwittingly carried away to the end of the song. "True" if anything, sound wise, seems the lowest emotionally of the EP. The strings are used to swell and subside in a hopeful but almost unsatisfying way. This successfully stresses the song's delicate and honest temperament. www.myspace.com/stephenhillmusic Further Information
