Band and Demo Reviews: Unsigned Music Reviews
The Authentics
The Authentics- Blondes make The Best Victims?Rock bands are not hard to come by, and most places in the UK will boast a number of talented acts. Yet from every place there will be one or two fantastic, stand out talents that deserve further listening. For Leicester, this certainly applies to The Authentics. Having had a number of brilliant EPs, gaining a respectable following and a number of promising reviews, the 4 piece's debut album, 'Blondes Make The Best Victims' is an album that stays true to the band's style from their EPs, and moves on to a whole new level of rock goodness. It's clear that the band appeal to anyone who'd call themselves a rock music fan, of any description. 'Behind The Mask' shows why Metal Hammer are so impressed by the band, whereas 'Don't Disappear' is a sing-along rock anthem, making it a blistering start to the album. The album flows effortlessly, with each track battling for the title of best on the album. 'Frustrations and Ultimatums' wins this for me, yet it's closely fought with at least six others. Live favourite 'Pervert' is fantastic; with brilliant use of backing vocals, and 'Heartbreaker' is as good a track as you're likely to hear from bands making the top 20 in the charts. This is an album with 11 pieces of fantastic music. Melodic punk and good old rock n roll have been used as terms to describe The Authentics before. I'd simply go with unmistakeably brilliant.
