The Kickliner
The KicklinerCompletely new to me, this lot have quite an impressive array of styles and talents on one Myspace player! Some of there songs are very melodic and an Indy tuneful affair. An example of this being "The Lighthouse Keeper". It's an acoustic Gem very easy listening and relaxing. Could be compared to the likes of Damien Rice. This is in complete contrast to songs such as the Instrumental "Arcadia", which promises slightly more than it can give. As an instrumental its got a very fast build up and you are expecting vocals to start at any moment! I don't know whether this is the end plan for this song but it would lend itself quite well to a lyrical contribution. "The Doctors Son" starts off quite electronically and suddenly kicks in with a guitar part and a vocal introduction. It turns into a touching narrative with complex lyrical emotion. A struggle for control, much deeper and darker than something Damien Rice could ever fathom. This is generally my favourite track of their player. I could see it developing into an epic three-part track. This song on its own in easily imaginable as a chart hit. It has the vocal talent of Damien Rice in his album O but the complexity and experimentation of A (diluted) Perfect Circle. Defiantly darker undertones but with a commercial feel about it. I have a feeling that these guys could grow into something groundbreaking. For only three members their music is fairly complex and recordings sound great.
