The Tarka Groove Experiment

The Tarka Groove Experiment - I've Fallen Over (Album)

The most immediately striking feature of this album is undoubtedly the vocals, which stands out from track one. Appearing semi-spoken in places, they are far more welcome than the mumbled lyrics that derail so many potentially great tracks. So strong are they that they soar above the musical accompaniment, but thankfully not in a way that seeks to evict it entirely from the performance.

By slowing in places, the vocals reach out far more effectively than would be possible with more aggressive compositions. Standout tracks are without doubt 3 and 7, both entirely different in genre and feel, transcending classification yet both entirely brilliant and memorable.
